Cancellation Policy

This Cancellation Policy explains what happens if a registration is cancelled by a participant, or if English Olympiad needs to cancel, postpone, or modify a round or event. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions and Refund Policy.
1. Cancellation by a Participant
- Participants (or their parent/guardian/school) may withdraw from a round at any time by notifying English Olympiad in writing.
- Withdrawing from a round does not entitle the participant to a refund of any fees already paid (see our Refund Policy).
- A withdrawn registration cannot be transferred to another individual or carried forward to a future season unless English Olympiad expressly agrees to this in writing on a case-by-case basis.
2. Cancellation, Postponement, or Modification by English Olympiad
English Olympiad may need to cancel, postpone, relocate, or change the format of a round due to circumstances such as venue unavailability, extreme weather, public health concerns, low registration numbers, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
In such cases, English Olympiad will, where reasonably possible:
- Notify registered participants of the change as early as possible
- Offer one or more of the following, at our discretion:
- A rescheduled date for the same round
- An alternative format (e.g., moving an in-person round online)
- Carry-forward of the registration to the next relevant round or season
Where English Olympiad cancels a round entirely and is unable to offer a rescheduled date, alternative format, or carry-forward option, the situation will be handled under the exceptions described in our Refund Policy.
3. No-Show Policy
- Participants who do not attend a scheduled round without prior withdrawal notice will be marked absent and are not eligible for a refund, rescheduling, or carry-forward.
- English Olympiad is not responsible for a participant's failure to attend due to travel delays, technical issues on the participant's side, or similar circumstances.
4. Group & School Registrations
- Where a school or institution has registered multiple students, cancellation of individual student entries must be communicated by the registering school.
- Cancellation of a group registration follows the same non-refundable terms described in Section 1, applied per student entry.
5. Changes to This Policy
English Olympiad may update this Cancellation Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
